Have you visited Iron Accents recently?

You might have noticed the new calligraphy drawn directly on the building in large black letters over the door, as well as the sides of the brick and stucco building. Charlie Stubbs, a local artist turned sign-painter, created the original lettering for Iron Accents on April 22.

Mr. Stubbs is a natural choice having worked professionally on numerous architectural projects. His past work includes artistic renderings of Château Élan, the winery located thirty-minutes north of Atlanta. He sketched the winery before construction began from the architectural blueprints. His drawing stood on the lot as Château Élan was constructed.

For years, he was well-known throughout Georgia in the commercial construction trade for his creative flair and warm sense of humor. Back in the 1980s, he painted the walls inside Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta with bright colors and warm scenes. He moved to national recognition when he entered a national sign-painting contest winning Third Place. He created a mural on a fence by super-sizing a collection of children's drawings. His work was published in the trade magazine Signs of the Times.

These days, Mr. Stubbs lives a quieter life in north Georgia.

Standing on a ladder, Mr. Stubbs (85) painted the final touches on his work for Iron Accents. We are fortunate in north Georgia. Mr. Stubbs offers his sign-painting services to local businesses and organizations. You may contact him at 706-982-5228. You will receive more than an original artistic sign; you will meet an interesting new friend.

The "sense" trend continues to be important in home décor. This trend focuses on details, allowing you to make a statement with even the smallest home accents, such as, Honey FireLites, Party Time FireLites, and Romantic FireLites.

All three Napa Firelites burn FireLite Gel Fuel for ambient lighting at home parties and romantic dinners. Iron Accents owner and home designer Valerie Kirves recommends them "to set the mood."

Glazed ceramic pots come in soft earth tones of red, blue, green, and yellow and in three shapes honey pot, oval jar, and flared square. Stainless steel lines the inside for the gel. The gel burns clean without hazardous fumes and smoke. The gel is "green." It is non-carbon based and made from recycled material in the USA.

The gel is economical. One 32-ounce bottle of gel lasts eight hours. The receptacle holds 8 ounces for a total of four refills per bottle. Use Firelites indoor or outdoors. Choose citronella gel to discourage insects from coming to outdoor parties.

If you've been wanting to introduce the design style of feng shui to your bedroom it can be done easily with just a few elements.

Feng shui is basically the art of object placement around a room that has been practiced in China for over two-thousand years. It is also about balancing the feeling of your room so it feels that energy flows through it with careful attention to not only the placement of the objects but also the materials that every object is made from. Using the feng shui technique is also known as "curing" the ills of the room.

Iron is important element in feng shui as it brings healing to the room. An iron bed is a great way to bring restorative vibrations to your room and also have pairs of as many objects as you can. Pairs of book ends, pairs of pillows, a nightstand on each side of your bed and shelves are all items you can consider in pairs. Pairs are said to bring harmony to the room.

A pair of iron lamps will also bring a good cure to the room. Lighting is an important "cure" in feng shui. Bright lighting will cure bad moods and low lighting is used to bring warm feelings to the room or when harmony is needed between two people.

And those are just a few of the basics for adding the magic of feng shui to your bedroom. Add a little harmony to your bedroom for the New Year and add the positive element of Feng Shui to your bedroom and experience the harmony and balance it brings!
