Types of Curtain Rods

There are many different types of curtain rods and how you use them for your window treatments can color the mood of your entire decor.

The most well-known type of curtain rod is the old fashioned spring rod which simply attaches in the window area using spring tension to stay in place. They are simple affair and do not require any special hardware to hang. They can't hold a lot of weight but if you have a lightweight curtain arrangement in mind or simple cafe type curtains, they will be perfectly fine to use in your decorating scheme.

Magnetic rods are a little more decorative than standard spring rod. Much like spring rods, they require no special hardware and since they use a magnet to stay in place rather than spring tension, they may only be used on a metal window sill.

Sash-rods are another type of curtain rod. They are thinner and more decorative than the other two types of rods. They are intended to be seen and are usually placed just above the window. They are usually rather plain in design except they usually have decorative end caps on each end of the rod.

Another option in curtain rods is a highly decorative scroll rod that is meant to be part of your decor. A good example of this is the wrought iron scroll worked Elegant Curtain Rod that is a scrolled masterpiece in metal. Much like a sash rod this curtain rod was meant to be seen and it's design will add to the overall feel of your room.

No matter which curtain rod you choose, window treatments will bring the whole of your decor together and whether you want to keep it low-key and use a simple spring rod or use a decorative rod to give your interior design a stamp that says it is uniquely "you", there are no wrong choices, just your personal preferences.
