Easy Ways to Pull Together Your Room
Do you have a room that seems jumbled or just out and out makes you nervous? It could be that your room simply needs pulling together.
Many people fall in love with a particular style such as French Country and then get halfway through decorating their room and either loose interest in it or switch styles. The result is a very confusing room. It will have a slightly cozy feel but also a very unfinished feel that isn't comfortable to anyone.
First of all, decide what kind of look you want for your room. If you really want that French Country, go for it. If your tastes have changed to something Art Deco or you just want to make a room that is uniquely "you" - that will be easy to attain as well.
First of all, decide what pieces do not belong in your room and remove them. Try to get down to the basics. A sofa and a love seat and then turn your attention to your window treatments. They should carry the colors used in your room. Then consider investing in something like an entertainment unit or a armoire to hold your television and stereo equipment. You can close the doors to the unit when it is not in use and give your room clean lines.
Candles can add a decidedly soft flair to a room. If you want to use candles to add light, consider a
tree candle holder that will hold ten votives and only stands 27-inches high. It is ideal to use on a tabletop to add soft lighting and is ideal for a cozy get together.
For a personal touch, add collections of your favorite family or vacation photos. Also, if you have a whimsical or quirky artwork, don't be afraid to add it. Remember, the room you're designing should have a stamp of your personal style on it.

Accents Make a Room
You can spend thousands upon thousands of dollars decorating your room and it won't matter a hill of beans if you don't add good accents. The accents that you choose for your decor will greatly depend on the mood you're trying to reflect within the room.
Accents can also be used to make a bright color in your room stand out more. If there is a red in your area rug that you'd like to see throughout your room to give it a little more life. Add a red framed mirror on a wall - which will do a double duty of making your room seem a little larger; you can also add red candle sticks or even red pillows on a sofa or love seat. All will work to pull the color red out of your area rug and spread it throughout the room.
Another trick decorators use to make a room more cozy is to add an accent on the ceiling area of a room. You can have textured paint, a wall paper boarder that goes all the way around a room or even do a pattern of tin ceiling tiles. All of these accents will work to make a room seem even more cozy.
If it's impact you want, put a striking accent in the room in a central focal point. It doesn't have to be dead center on a pedestal in the middle of a room, but an eye catching statue
like a ring dancer, tall regal plant or a fragment piece of stone artwork will go a long way to making a stunning statement in your decor.
Accents are easy to add if you know the tricks. Use the colors in your room to decide on the accents you want to add and you'll have a designer touched room from start to finish.
