Think Ahead to Spring
It is not easy to consider when you see snow falling from the sky, but the winter is a great time to start thinking about your spring decor.
When you're feeling a touch of cabin fever, start looking around your rooms and see what you'd like to change. If you're organized about it, you can change the look and feel of your various rooms in your home without spending an arm and a leg to do it.
First of all get a pad and paper and note down your rooms that you'd like to change. Then sit down in each room note the overall look of the room. Write down if it is cozy or feels too small or needs more color.
Then look around and see if you need to add a shelving unit, cabinet, a corner table and make sure you're making the best use of your space. Small kitchens can be expanded just by adding a hanging pot rack and freeing up valuable cabinet space to hold items that would otherwise be cluttering up shelves. You can add a cozy feel by adding darker colors to your room and by the same line of thinking, open up a smallish feeling room by using lighter colors as well as
mirrors to bring more light into the room.
If you have the beginnings of a country theme in a room, continue it by adding a few country accents such as a throw with soft country colors or a chest that can double as a table base as well as hold items for later use.
When your list is complete, make a realistic budget for each room and you can plan to do each room about a month apart. Your results will be a fully updated interior decor by summer without spending all your hard earned money!

Cozy Elements for Your Living Room Decor
If you're going to have company over for the holiday season, you'll want your room to reflect as warm of a mood as possible. There are some easy ways to add warmth to your room without breaking the bank.
The first way is to bring your walls in closer. You can do this buy using darker elements on your walls. Dark wood shelving or cabinets will not only do the dual duty of clearing your room of unpleasant clutter, the darkness of the wood will work to draw your walls in closer in the mind's eye.
Another way you can make the room cozy is to use dark throws on your sofa and add matching pillows made out of a soft wool or flannel fabric. They will bring a good element of warmth into the room.
Fireplaces can also be used to bring warmth into your room; both literally and by decor. Update your
screen around your fireplace and add to your mantel. Both are great ways to bring interest and personality to your room. If you're feeling the holiday spirit, try adding a small Christmas Village scene above your mantlepiece or put white, red and green candles on stands just off to each side of your fireplace away from the heat. Their soft glow can't be replaced for adding a friendly and welcoming element to your room.
If you haven't considered it before, make your sofa area the gathering point in your room for guests. Push a chair and/or an ottoman close around a coffee table and you will have a perfect little cozy nook for holiday entertaining.
Use these tips and make your room a warm place to gather that everyone will look forward to coming to!
